AliSka is an artistic name for textile artist and designer Maria Zverin. Maria graduated from Shenkar College of Engineering and Design, with honors. Maria creates unique unconventional textile art objects and garments, which are not based on the traditional pattern-cutting approach. Due to the combination of different materials and colors Maria’s textiles possess unique textures and shapes.Maria experiments with a wide range of materials, which include anything from traditional textile materials, like yarns or fabrics, to unconventional substances, like video cassette tapes, old magazines, or electronic parts. Maria is totally involved both in creative and technical process.In her work, she makes use of variety of traditional textile technologies (knitting, crocheting, embroidery, painting, sewing) combining them with her unique personal technologic developments. Maria is a senior lecturer at Shenkar college. She exhibits her artworks in galleries and worldwide exhibitions such as Milano Design Week.
