Sea battles and seascapes depicted by the greatest master of marine art Ivan Aivazovsky are the major source of inspiration for AliSka "Sea on Fire" collection. I was always deeply influenced and amazed by Russian painters. They always seemed to me so sincere, so strong, and so natural. Ivan Aivazovsky, the Russian painter of Armenian heritage, has enchanted me since my early childhood and up to the present day. How is it possible to develop such play of light, such physical expressiveness of painted surfaces, and such a mixture of elements? Is it possible to get a little bit closer to his genius and to create the same expressiveness in the textiles and at the same time not to copy him? A lot of textile experiences, fabric manipulations, millions of stiches, thousands of rows, kilometers of yarns… and here I have it. My "Sea on Fire" collection.
